Converting from kJams for use in Serato DJ program
I'm trying to figure out how to convert my Kjams tunes so that I can use them with my Serato Dj program so I don't have to keep two different programs running....so far I love Kjams and am happy that they have a system that can run on Apple.....in addition also love the timely responses to problems that users have.....AWESOME customer service....

not quite sure what that means or how to do that I've looked at the web site questions/answers but i'm not that computer savvy......also if I import from my Kjams files into the serato library will that completely remove all the files from the Kjams program???.....I'm kinda lost.....thanks for the reply....

click on the link to find out what it means. or just click here.
you export to a movie file, then bring the movie into Serato.
no, loading files into another program won't affect the first program.
does Serato play MP3+G files? i don't know.

Re: Converting from kJams for use in Serato DJ program
I'm sure we've been through this beforeI don't know what format Serato uses
Serato video plays: .mp4, .m4v, .m4a, .mov, .avi, .mpg, .dv, .qtz, .flv & mpeg
I tried over & over but couldn't get it right. Serato seems to have issues with Kjams exports.
Kjams exported files play perfectly in every other software that I've tried, so it seems as though it's a Serato issue.
However Serato claims it's a setting within the exporting software. I tried setting what I could with no luck.
The files play perfectly fine in Serato, ONLY IF I re-encode them using Handbrake with a "Serato Preset" that Serato supply.
But I just don't have the patience to export all my files twice - I eventually just gave up.
Also there is an issue where upscaling (which looks amazing) causes exports to take up to 30mins+ to export.
Dave if you're able to get Kjams to export to mp4 reliably & efficiently for use with Serato video, I'm sure sales will soar!!
Serato are actually considering adding .cdg support. Probably as a paid for plugin.
So...... best haste, not waste.

there's never a reason to give up, because i'm here to help. if you can't get something to work, you have to tell me, so i can fix it, rather than you giving up. there is always a way.I eventually just gave up.
I will try Serato. What export encoder / preset are you using from kJams?
Re: Converting from kJams for use in Serato DJ program
Hi Dave.
I'm trying to export to .mp4, please also take a look at the time it takes to export when upscaling is selected.
I've been super patient wrt exporting in kjams, in actual fact it's the main reason I bought this software.
I have since also purchased the "pro" upgrade and I've been updating kjams each time, hoping that this issue will have been sorted out.
Please look into this for me. Exporting with upscaling enabled is excruciatingly slow.
I could actually do a screen recording 4 times over, in the time it takes to do one upscaled export.
Thanks & regards.

Re: Converting from kJams for use in Serato DJ program
okay so that's your encoder, but what is your preset? that's a critical questionI'm trying to export to .mp4
i'm aware of that, and unfortunately nothing can be done about it, short of re-writing ALL the code in OpenCL and doing it all on your graphics card, which would take me a very VERY long time, for a feature that is really the opposite of critical. there are other things that are MUCH more critical, for example *playing* an HD video causes video stutter.also take a look at the time it takes to export when upscaling is selected
oh, gosh, i've been waiting for you to get back to me before looking into it.I've been updating kjams each time, hoping that this issue will have been sorted out
i'm still waiting, cuz i need to know your preset

FTR, using my old SunFly presets, Serato reads kJams exported video just fine:
H.264
Best
frame rerodering
multipass
720p
112kbps AAC audio
As this was done on a homemade track, I also did one from a commercial CDG, same settings. Worked fine:

I also tried doing one at QVGA (320x240) a/k/a/ CDG size:
Everything works fine.
